EXPOSURE CHANGES EXPECTATIONS

There are many things I've come to realize during the first half of this year, and I understand them much better because I've experienced them firsthand during my Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). I remember there were many things that seemed very difficult, or almost impossible, when I was younger. Even from last year until now, my mindset has changed significantly. Not because those things have suddenly become easy, but because I'm currently in an environment where I see people strive for difficult things and eventually achieve them. They desire something, and they intentionally work towards it. I've heard some ladies say they wouldn't marry someone who lives in the same environment they grew up in because they don't want to raise their children there. While there are exceptions, I now understand the principle behind that mindset. Your environment influences your thinking, your expectations, and even what you believe is possible. I'm grat...

THE SILENT COST OF ASSUMPTIONS

After my first SIWES presentation, I learnt a vital lesson: confirmation gives better confidence than standing to defend what you only assume. So here’s the tea. Two weeks before the SIWES interns had their presentations, we were given the opportunity to watch two NYSC interns present. It was beautiful and impactful. After the presentation, I requested the document format from my supervisor, and he sent it to me. About a week before our own presentation, the HR in charge of training sent a document format for us to use as a guideline. The format was completely different from what my supervisor had sent, but I brushed it aside. I mean… it didn’t look like what the corps members used for their presentation. The day of the presentation came, and I used the format my supervisor sent. I wasn’t the only one who made this mistake. Others also used the same format because it looked similar to what we had seen earlier. Midway into my presentation, the company manager asked, “Is this the format ...

Hello May,

Happy new month, everyone! Welcome to the month of May. I genuinely want to appreciate everyone that engaged with my last blog post, it means a lot to me. Thank you so much.  In less than 24 hours, I'll be releasing my next post and this one is something I hope leaves an impact, even if it’s just with one person. I can’t wait to share it with you. Stay tuned 💛

CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR

I didn't fully understand this phrase "be careful what you ask for" till it happened to me. Preparing for my SIWES (Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme), I wanted a good place. An environment where I could learn and grow not just work... I was so sure that was what I wanted. I applied to various offices, checked for placements online, made enquiries from family and friends, even wrote an exam (on top SIWES 😂) and sent a lot of mails.  I eventually got a call to resume work as I had been accepted. Getting there, I realized they didn't directly offer the service I wanted to gain practical experience in, but they offered something similar which is still a plus. Now, this is where it began. Work officially started and this was nothing like what I planned or asked for. In the first week of resumption all SIWES interns were given a study plan that included courses we were expected to take within a period of time... yep, we had deadlines to meet. Plus, we still had ...

TIME AND CHANCE

Ecclesiastes 9:11 "Again, I saw under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favour to the men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all" I input this scripture because what I want to teach today was fetched from this scripture. I would be talking about opportunity in relation to time and chance in this scripture. In the scripture above, Solomon was saying what he observed after all he saw and thereafter, he made the pronouncement. My Dad used this scripture many times when he spoke to me about preparation and how it affects the time and chance God has prepared for me to manifest to the world. I would be explaining this message carefully as I want us to get the full message. The term “again, I saw under the sun”, depicts that it’s the same 24hours God gave everyone to invest their time; both the rich and the poor have the same number of hours but what they do is what makes the dif...

THE RUNNING CLOCK

Hello everyone, Merry Christmas, hope we all had a good time today. I want to appreciate everyone viewing my write up. Thank you.                       A common saying goes “time waits for no man”, this saying would have probably been told in the days of our fore fathers for it to still be said till this present generation with the actual meaning still attached to it. When I was younger, I considered 30 minutes a very long time because back then I did not know the value that time possessed. The lockdown during the corona virus pandemic made me realize so many things; I started getting to know more about time and its importance, 30 minutes no longer seemed long to me because I began to have more responsibilities and duties that required proper time management.                      During the lockdown, I got a clearer picture of how the running clock operated. Ins...

GRIT: PASSION AND PERSEVERANCE

Hello everyone, I’m back and I would like to appreciate everyone who is viewing my write up after a very long time. We thank God for keeping us alive. Today, I’m going to explain one of the major factors of success; grit. Grit is like the combination of passion and perseverance. Having talent is one thing and having the passion and perseverance to fight through the battles that they may face in the journey to success is another thing. According to the oxford dictionary, passion is an intense enthusiasm for something while perseverance is the ability to continue in a course of action in spite of difficulty. Most people think that those that are endowed with specific talents are the ones that do well in their fields; that could be a plus but it is not the major factor of success. Let me state an example, a person could possess the talent to sing but may not have the grit to develop himself meanwhile someone that does not have the talent, but wants to progress despite the pain...

LETTING GO

Happy new year everyone. I hope this write up adds to us in this new year. According to the vocapture dictionary, an habit is an action performed repeatedly and automatically usually without awareness. I would say that an habit is an action that is cultivate gradually. As human beings, we can discern from what is right and wrong. With this ability to discern, we choose to cultivate either good or bad habits. The cultivation of these habits will determine if the products will ad to your life positively or negatively and this is where our inner man comes to play and directs our actions. It is left to us to pick an action between what is wrong and what is right. The cultivation of bad habits often leads to grevious consequences. I want to point out something here; the cultivation of bad habit is easy but turning a new leaf is going to be difficult and if not careful, it could develop into an addiction> In some cases, their addiction leaves a stigma in their lives forever. To all those ...

CRITICAL THINKING

Hello everyone, for today's topic, I will be talking about critical thinking and how it can reform our present generation.                According to Foundation for critical thinking, critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying and/or evaluating information gathered from observation or communication as a guide to belief and action.               In my words, I would say that critical thinking is the ability to think deep with a view to solving difficult situations through observation.               The technology that we are all making use of today; the cars we are driving, the smartphones we use, the use of internet to make researches, the use of electrical devices to perform some functions in our homes and so on. I want us to know that all ...

THE IMPACT OF DESIRE

Hello everyone, happy new month. We thank God for His never ending mercies over our lives. I also want to appreciate everyone that has been following me on my blog since last year. Thank you all so much.           For this topic, I will be putting more emphasis on HOPE and DESIRE. Hope is a desire for something, with some confidence or expectation of success.     -CHAMBERS  21st CENTURY DICTIONARY.           From the definition above, hope comes with a desire. A strong desire propels manifestation of what your mind conceives. Be it an adventure, educational pursuit, goal, aspiration and so on. Your desire towards a thing has the strength to determine if it is going to be a success or not. In my words,I will say that desire is an urge that propels us to accomplish necessary things in our everyday lives. Our desire for success and accomplishments in our careers, businesses, groups and acade...

DO YOU HAVE A PLAN FOR THIS YEAR?

Planning is the process of thinking about the activities required to achieve a desired goal. It is the first and foremost activity to achieve desired results. WIKIPEDIA.               Good day everyone, I want to talk on planning this week, because it is a new year and for a new year we need a new plan. If I may ask, what are your plans for this year? do you plan to achieve something by the end of this year or before the end of this year? If we do not make plans, we may not be able to use what are in our hands well without a proper plan. Below are quotes on planning: 1. "By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail".                                                        ...

WHAT ARE IN YOUR HANDS (PART 2)

Good day everyone. Happy new year in advance! We thank God for his mercy throughout this year.               In the last post, I emphasized on definition 4, but today I will talk on definition 3. Definition 3 states that Hand is a person's power or control. In the last week, I asked you what your hands were doing and if it was affecting lives positively.               Today I will be talking about the power or control your hand carries. What I want us to understand now is that power has levels so does control. The level of power you have determines the amount of control you have. And if you have the power are you going to use it in a positive manner?               Now linking 'What are in your hands (PART 1) and this topic together. Until when you have played an active role on the face of the earth, until when you have started making preparations towards your fu...

NOTION CHANGE

What is notion change you may ask. In this topic, I will like us to understand that there are two words with two different meanings which I am going to break down.               First of all what is notion? Notion is a theory or belief held by a person or group.                                                                                                         -Merriam Webstar Dictionary.               Change ...

POINT OF CONVERGENCE

Can I ask you some questions, Who do you relate with? Who is your friend? What made you think that person was right to be your friend? Do you have anything in common?               Among these questions, the main question here is, what is your point of convergence?, what makes you attracted to people. That's what we're going to talk about today.      What is point of convergence?               Point of convergence is what makes you and people around you come together. In other words it means what makes you come together and unite in a common interest or focus with other people.      Who is a friend?               A friend is someone you like very much and like to spend time with.        ...

THIS OR THAT

Everyone in life has come or will come to a point that they ask this question, "This or That". We all ask ourselves at a certain point in life to decide between good or bad, what is wrong and right, what is decent and indecent. acceptable and unacceptable and many others along opposing divides.      "This or That"-               This relates to making the right decisions in times we are in critical situations. Now peradventure, in your school you were given the opportunity to join the most popular clique because of your talents and gifts and it's an opportunity  everyone is dying and craving to get. Let us assume you've been warned by your parents to be careful of those kinds of groups. In a sense, it's a very rare privilege, what do you do? Now you've come to a point of "This or That", a situation wher...

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

Self confidence is an intangible asset that every human being should have. Being confident of yourself and what you can do is also very important.               When you believe in yourself or when you have self confidence, you are capable of doing things you never thought you could do.               If you do not believe in yourself, I can tell that you are more likely to believe what the world says about you and get involved in negative things. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF 1. You are proud of who you are. 2. You have courage. 3. You develop a positive mindset. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN YOURSELF 1. You become a daydreamer. 2. You lose the authority to your life. 3. You always see life in the negative way. 4. It becomes hard to learn new things. THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOU BE...

The corona virus pandemic has held almost the whole world to a standstill; almost shutting down most physical meetings. This has seriously affected businesses, especially places of worship and educational institutions which are still not allowed to resume operation in almost every country of the world.               In a way, the corona virus pandemic brought a twist of opportunities, because time that never seems to be enough is now filled with boredom as a result of inactivity and lack of engagement. To this end it becomes important that we can be accountable for every minute at our disposal. WAYS TO SPEND YOUR LOCK DOWN WISELY 1.Engage yourself in educational activities..           The lock down has had a serious effect on schools and educational institutions; if we were to wait for schools to resume, a lot of time would have been wasted and when schools resume...
