CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR

I didn't fully understand this phrase "be careful what you ask for" till it happened to me. Preparing for my SIWES (Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme), I wanted a good place. An environment where I could learn and grow not just work... I was so sure that was what I wanted. I applied to various offices, checked for placements online, made enquiries from family and friends, even wrote an exam (on top SIWES 😂) and sent a lot of mails.  I eventually got a call to resume work as I had been accepted. Getting there, I realized they didn't directly offer the service I wanted to gain practical experience in, but they offered something similar which is still a plus. Now, this is where it began. Work officially started and this was nothing like what I planned or asked for. In the first week of resumption all SIWES interns were given a study plan that included courses we were expected to take within a period of time... yep, we had deadlines to meet. Plus, we still had ...

TIME AND CHANCE

Ecclesiastes 9:11 "Again, I saw under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favour to the men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all" I input this scripture because what I want to teach today was fetched from this scripture. I would be talking about opportunity in relation to time and chance in this scripture. In the scripture above, Solomon was saying what he observed after all he saw and thereafter, he made the pronouncement. My Dad used this scripture many times when he spoke to me about preparation and how it affects the time and chance God has prepared for me to manifest to the world. I would be explaining this message carefully as I want us to get the full message. The term “again, I saw under the sun”, depicts that it’s the same 24hours God gave everyone to invest their time; both the rich and the poor have the same number of hours but what they do is what makes the dif...

THE RUNNING CLOCK

Hello everyone, Merry Christmas, hope we all had a good time today. I want to appreciate everyone viewing my write up. Thank you.                       A common saying goes “time waits for no man”, this saying would have probably been told in the days of our fore fathers for it to still be said till this present generation with the actual meaning still attached to it. When I was younger, I considered 30 minutes a very long time because back then I did not know the value that time possessed. The lockdown during the corona virus pandemic made me realize so many things; I started getting to know more about time and its importance, 30 minutes no longer seemed long to me because I began to have more responsibilities and duties that required proper time management.                      During the lockdown, I got a clearer picture of how the running clock operated. Ins...

GRIT: PASSION AND PERSEVERANCE

Hello everyone, I’m back and I would like to appreciate everyone who is viewing my write up after a very long time. We thank God for keeping us alive. Today, I’m going to explain one of the major factors of success; grit. Grit is like the combination of passion and perseverance. Having talent is one thing and having the passion and perseverance to fight through the battles that they may face in the journey to success is another thing. According to the oxford dictionary, passion is an intense enthusiasm for something while perseverance is the ability to continue in a course of action in spite of difficulty. Most people think that those that are endowed with specific talents are the ones that do well in their fields; that could be a plus but it is not the major factor of success. Let me state an example, a person could possess the talent to sing but may not have the grit to develop himself meanwhile someone that does not have the talent, but wants to progress despite the pain...

LETTING GO

Happy new year everyone. I hope this write up adds to us in this new year. According to the vocapture dictionary, an habit is an action performed repeatedly and automatically usually without awareness. I would say that an habit is an action that is cultivate gradually. As human beings, we can discern from what is right and wrong. With this ability to discern, we choose to cultivate either good or bad habits. The cultivation of these habits will determine if the products will ad to your life positively or negatively and this is where our inner man comes to play and directs our actions. It is left to us to pick an action between what is wrong and what is right. The cultivation of bad habits often leads to grevious consequences. I want to point out something here; the cultivation of bad habit is easy but turning a new leaf is going to be difficult and if not careful, it could develop into an addiction> In some cases, their addiction leaves a stigma in their lives forever. To all those ...

CRITICAL THINKING

Hello everyone, for today's topic, I will be talking about critical thinking and how it can reform our present generation.                According to Foundation for critical thinking, critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying and/or evaluating information gathered from observation or communication as a guide to belief and action.               In my words, I would say that critical thinking is the ability to think deep with a view to solving difficult situations through observation.               The technology that we are all making use of today; the cars we are driving, the smartphones we use, the use of internet to make researches, the use of electrical devices to perform some functions in our homes and so on. I want us to know that all ...
